PUEBLO, Colo. - The Professional Bull Riders announced that fans
will have an opportunity to experience the Toughest Sport on Earth
in a whole new way as select PBR Built Ford Tough Series events
will be live streamed on YouTube at the Professional Bull Riders
Channel.
YouTube has 3 billion views per day and more than 800 million
global visitors per month. The PBR joins other professional sports
on the Internet powerhouse, available on 350 million devices with
more than 400 million mobile views each day.
"YouTube is a great broadcast partner to deliver incremental
programming to PBR fans," said Sean Gleason, PBR
president & chief operating officer. "There are 11
performances from the Built Ford Tough Series that aren't covered
by our television partners, and for the first time we have a
broadcast partner that can deliver them. We eventually intend
to deliver all non-televised performances of the Built Ford Tough
Series through our partnership with YouTube."
The YouTube live stream will be HD-quality video, and supplements
the television broadcasts on CBS Sports Network, CBS Sports, NBC
Sports Network, and NBC Sports. The video will also be recorded,
and available on the Professional Bull Riders YouTube
Channel.
The first PBR event on YouTube will be opening night of the 2012
BFTS season on Friday, Jan. 6, from Madison Square Garden. The
schedule also includes YouTube feeds on Saturday, April 21, from
Des Moines, Iowa; Saturday, April 28, from Uncasville, Conn.;
Saturday, May 5 from Billings, Mont.; and Friday, May 18 from
Pueblo, Colo.
"Bull riding is practically designed for YouTube with bulls and
riders putting it all on the line for 8 seconds," said
Frank Golding, director of pro sports &
leagues, YouTube Sports. "It's an incredible sport."
The PBR will also provide original programming, including
features, interviews and highlights. The PBR is also going to
encourage its fans to publish their own content.
"We look at the PBR Channel on YouTube as the perfect place to
serve PBR fans with compelling content 24 hours a day, seven days a
week," said Gleason. "We want to get the fans' perspective,
see the PBR through their eyes."
PBR began producing its own broadcasts in 2011 and has seen an
increase in 18-34 viewers attributable largely to changes in how
the sport is presented. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR
under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los
Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner
and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as
executive producer and creative lead. The senior producer is
nine-time Emmy® Award winner Carlos DeMolina, and
the director is Brian Douglas, who has more than
30 years of experience including 12 years as head of television
production for the Winter Olympic Games. Rounding out the
production team is creative director Cory Kelley,
owner of ChromaZone Productions Inc., a leader in sports and
entertainment post-production, located in Nashville, Tenn.
Returning for his sixth season as the play-by-play broadcaster is
Craig Hummer, who will be joined each week by one
color commentator. The color commentators will be nine-time World
Champion and PBR co-founder Ty Murray, two-time
PBR World Champion Justin McBride, and PBR Ring of
Honor member J.W. Hart. The behind-the-chutes
reporters will be Leah Garcia, who has worked for
the PBR since 2004, and Marty Snider, a member of
the CBS Sports TV Team who has covered PBR events, including the
Built Ford Tough World Finals, each of the last two years.
The PBR has 37 International broadcast partners in 114
territories, and is available in a half-billion households.
