HOUSTON - The PBR is pleased to announce that legendary NFL coach Bum Phillips will be taking part in the WinStar World Casino Invitational this Saturday at Reliant Stadium.

Phillips, who served as head coach of the Houston Oilers from 1975-1980, and became the winningest coach in franchise history, is a longtime PBR fan. He will address the riders shortly before the event in the locker room, and greet them as they enter the arena during opening ceremonies.

"We're excited to have Coach Phillips at our event," said PBR Chief Executive Officer Jim Haworth. "He and his wife Debbie have followed the PBR for many years now, and we couldn't be more pleased to welcome them to our first visit to Houston since 2001."

A native of Orange, Texas, Phillips has remained a popular sports figure in the Houston area. He and Debbie operate a horse and cattle ranch in Goliad County, Texas.  He does advertising and motivational speaking and works in literally hundreds of charity events, with his main focus on Bum Phillips Charities.
